No decision for opening of schools upto class 8th

Examinations to begin from first week of Nov with 30% reduction in syllabus, says Director School Education

Srinagar Sep 11: Stating that authorities have not taken any decisions for opening of schools upto class 8th, Director School Education Kashmir Tasaduq Hussain Mir said there will be 30 percent reduction in syllabus for students and examinations will begin from first week of November.
“There will be 30 percent reduction in syllabus and students will have a choice and they can leave any 30 percent of portion in the paper. No decision has been taken for mass promotion. The examinations will begin from first week of November,” Mir told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
He said authorities have not taken any decision about opening of schools upto class 8th. “We are with the virus. We have opened schools for class 10th and 12th. We will wait and see if there is further improvement in the situation then may take a call about opening of schools upto class 8th,” he said.
The Director School Education said they have taken several measures to compensate the losses to the students.
“Teachers are giving online classes to students and besides there are community classes. We have also started radio and tele-classes for students to ensure there is no loss to the students,” he said while appreciating the role of teachers they played during the covid.
The administration recently allowed re-opening of higher educational institutions and schools for students of classes 10 and 12 with certain conditions in J&K.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary A.K. Mehta.
In an order issued after a review of the COVID-19 situation, Mehta, who is also the chairperson of the State Executive Committee (SEC), said classes for students of 12th standard would be permitted with in-person attendance not exceeding 50 per cent of capacity on a given day.
"Consent shall be obtained from the parents of all students who are willing to attend school. The school premises should be thoroughly sanitised, proper screening regarding vaccination should be done on the school gate.
